HOCKEY SEASON IS HERE ONCE AGAIN!!!!!

Barron Chetek Youth Hockey is off and skating again...  Practices have now started for all age levels.  Mini Mites / Mites are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15 To 7:15, Squirts are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:15, Peewees are Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30, and Girls are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30.  Bantams are skating with Rice Lake this year, and have a different schedule. 

We have just wrapped up our first Fund Raiser of the new season.  Thank you to everyone who participated in selling Wreaths.  Please watch for signs at the rink as to the delivery date of our Wreaths. It should be around the week of November 16th. 

NEXT UP******  FOOD!!  Monday November 9th, and Tuesday November 10th we will be holding parent meetings at each team level. You should arrive 1/2 hour prior to your childs practice time for these meetings.  During this time we will be kicking off our Food Fundraiser.  There will be samples available of a few items from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on each of these nights.  Packets will be handed out to each family at this time.   This is designed to eliminate the sale of the cash calendars.

WANTED: WE NEED REFS FOR THE NEW 2009-2010 SEASON.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT JOE JOHNSTON @ 715-637-3254.  We are also looking for a new Referee Scheduler.  Please contact either Joe at the number above, or Clayton at 715-764-2727 if you are willing to give this a try.. 


Signage Committee:
Our new Signage Committee Director is Al Knowlton (612-280-9111 - Aknowl@aol.com) . Remember that Sign ads are a very important part of our associations fundraising efforts. You can earn a $100.00 credit towards your fundrasing quota for each sign ad you sell!!! Share the information with all business owners you know. You never know who is looking to help out kids, and advertise at the same time.

Fundraising Committee: Our Fundraising Committee Director is Lisa Skinner (715-296-4251 - llskinner@j-ots.com).   We are always looking for different fundraising ideas!!  If you have any ideas or suggestions please let us know.    

Building and Grounds Committee: We are always looking for any adults willing to help on small projects that maintain or improve our facility. If you have any interest in these areas please contact any one of your board members. This is one of many ways you can complete some of your required service hours before next season even starts.

Website: Please be sure to periodically check our website calendar for any summer Youth Hockey activities. Also, during the hockey season, the most recent changes to your team’s game schedule will be posted.  As experienced hockey parents know, games may be added to or deleted from the original game schedule throughout the season.  Also, referees should remember that they may now make online requests to officiate games held at the Barron Ice Arena by going to the “Ref Schedule” section of our website.

Scheduling Committee: Parents, are you looking for some ways to complete your 25 service hours during the hockey season? Will you be taking your child to open skate? Please consider helping during open skate by collecting admission fees at the door or filling in at the concession stand on a Friday night, 7 – 9 PM. Also, we are looking for volunteers from each level to learn how to install ice in October, resurface the ice with our Zamboni and run the scoreboard. We can hold training sessions for anyone interested during the season as requested. These activities are very easy to learn and you’ll have some fun at the same time. After all, how many Moms or Dads can say they’ve driven a Zamboni? Please contact your Team Manager if you have an interest in any of these activities.
